The historical and cultural richness of Turkey is well apparent when you visit Ephesus, the ancient Greek-turned-Roman city situated in western Turkey. Its ruins and colosseum brings you back thousand of years BC and almost makes you feel like you’re on the movie set of Helen of Troy.
Well organized and affordable, this is a day excursion not to miss. My friend and I rented portable audio guides that helped recount all the important parts of the city, like its Amphitheater and Library of Celsus. I felt enlightened as my rusty memory of Greek and Roman history was getting refreshed. It was pretty epic and breathtaking being surrounded by ruins of an ancient civilization where democracy, philosophy, science and art once reigned.
