I’m always on a budget and I always find myself hosting parties. I’m like a 2017 Pinterest-DIY version of Monica Geller. Anyone who has hosted knows that the cost of food, drinks, supplies and decor can add-up. My philosophy when it comes to food and beverages: splurge. When it comes to decor: get crafty. That being said, it doesn’t mean that your decor has to suffer and look bland. You can still add some razzle-dazzle to you Oscar party even on a budget.
Here is what you’ll need to make your Oscar event visually inviting without breaking the bank:
- Clapperboard ($10)
- Oscar statuette (free*)
- Red tablecloth (already had one, but you can get one for $1.00 at the Dollarstore)
- Gold star stickers ($2.50)
- Popcorn boxes ($4.00)
- Printed Oscar ballots for your guests to fill out (free)
*My brother went to Hollywood a few years ago an got me a “Best Sister” Oscar statuette, but you can pick one up from any party store for under 10 bucks.
Here’s some quick snaps of how it turned out for a cozy and intimate Oscar party of 5!
