High Tea Bridal Shower

When my best friend asked me to be her Maid of Honour, I was over the moon. I was touched that I’d be seeing my childhood friend get married, honoured that she had chosen me, and I was thrilled to be a part of her wedding planning process. It meant I’d be by her side for dress fittings, helping her with DIY wedding invitations and wedding decor, and of course, organizing her bridal shower and bachelorette party. My event planning juices were flowing!

My best friend is a wholesome girl-next-door who appreciates simplicity with a touch of class. She’s also traveled the world and lived abroad, and during her time away, she became accustomed to fancy brunches and afternoon tea at luxury hotels. So a high tea affair seemed like the perfect theme for her Bridal Shower.

Paperless Post is my go-to place for invitation inspiration – it’s cheap (there are also free options), they have a big variety of designs and it’s easy to customize. I found the  most perfect design fitting for a high tea invitation, and I easily customized it to the point where the envelope was the same colour as our Bridesmaids dresses.

When it came to choosing a venue that specialized in high tea, The Victorian Garden Tea Room was perfect. It’s adorable, it’s quaint and the owner is a sweet English lady. It couldn’t have been better even if I tried. Just like its name, the ambiance of the venue is reminiscent of a whimsical Victorian Garden.

Then came the magic. Towers of fresh scones, jams, mini sandwiches, tiny biscuits and colourful flowers sprinkled in icing sugar arrived and created the feminine and whimsical ambiance my friend delighted in. It felt like an Alice in Wonderland scene, but with ladies who brunch.

To continue on with the sweet treats, the party favours were custom-ordered macarons from Delysées, my absolute favourite pastry café in Toronto. Our salted caramel and Marrakesh mint macarons were neatly packaged in individual clear plastic boxes and tied the custom-ordered labels by The Paper Medley with silk ribbons of the same colour scheme.

The Bridal Shower was a big success, my best friend was happy and we got to be frilly dames for a day.
