A watercolour wedding

โ€œIt was June, and the world smelled of roses. The sunshine was like powdered gold over the grassy hillside.โ€ – Maud Hart Lovelace

I had the pleasure of witnessing two friends marry beneath an early June sky, surrounded by magnificent flowers and Italian elegance at the Royal Botanical Gardens.

My friend described the aesthetic of this wedding as “watercolour florals,” and I can’t think of a better way to describe its beauty.

When I think back on the day, I remember it as a series of brushstrokes:

Rose petals landing on my friend’s veil, following her like nature’s confetti.

The scent of lilacs.

The buzz of nectar-driven bumble bees.

An Aperol Spritz in one hand, antipasto in the other.

My beautiful friends, haloed by sunshine.

Family members glowing with love and pride.

Palpable love between two people who light each other up.

These brushstrokes sparked an intention for this season:

Why not wander as though we live in a watercolour painting?

Wishing you a Summer season full of colour, light and beautiful places to wander.
