Our spaghetti garden

“Life is a combination of magic and pasta.”
– Federico Fellini

One of the simple joys of this season has been growing our own little herb garden on our lakeside balcony.

Even in a modest space, we’ve successfully created a corner filled with basil, parsley, chives, and dill.

A corner we like to call our “spaghetti garden.”

Despite the name, our spaghetti garden has seasoned more than pasta this summer.

Basil has found its aromatic way onto summer salads and homemade Margherita pizzas.

Dill has been paired with lemon and grilled salmon.

Parsley has garnished garlic shrimp.

Chives have been sprinkled onto Sunday morning eggs.

Basil on homemade pizza
Basil on a caprese salad
Chives on scrambled eggs
Basil with peaches, proschiutto and pistachio salad
Dill on salmon with avocado, roasted veggies and salad
Basil on watermelon and strawberries
Parsley and chives on shrimp scampi
Basil with canned peaches, yogurt and Manuka honey

Our garden isn’t complex nor big. But it’s more than enough for us. It grows just the right amount of bounty to make us enjoy cooking at home, and eating outside.

Indeed, our spaghetti garden inspires us to dine al fresco — savouring the freshness of our homemade meals while watching sailboats float by, feeling the evening sun rest on our skin, and every once in a while, catching a whiff of our fragrant garden.

Wishing you a delicious summer 🪴 xo
