“It is the weather of Sundays,
the weather of memory”.
– Lawrence Raab
This is a love letter to summer.
Not just any summer. One spent near the lake.
Not visiting or vacationing, but living by the lake.
A summer living with the lake.

This lakeside home is more than a serene pause; it has become part of the heartbeat of everyday life.
Observing the waterfront’s ever-changing rhythm and colours has at last made me understand that it’s okay that I, too, sway with the currents.
Not only is it okay…it’s natural. Expected, even.
Movement, change and return are all part of the process of living. The lake taught me that.

These are my favourite imprints of my coastal summer.
At home

A scattering of seashells, sailboat figurines and books about mystical mermaids make up the vignettes of each lived-in room. Linen and blue stripes feel cool on sun-kissed skin.
Open water

Freedom tastes sweeter on the water. Paired with music, friends and skin getting bronzed. The bittersweet feeling of never wanting this to end, but knowing that one day it will. So let me taste this even more.
Sun glitter

The path of glitter across the water is a daily dose of magic on morning walks. They feel like dancing fairies following me along the shoreline. Other days, they feel like the mysterious golden spirits of the people I miss.
White sails

Dotted along a blue horizon are the white triangles of sails, carrying with them a sense of freedom and adventure. They always leave me wondering: Where are you off to? And where have you been?
Blankets and berries

Back on land, fruit and treats are spread across a soft blanket, cheeks are kissed by the lake breeze and minds are soothed by books read beside the water.
Cotton candy skies

The evenings at the lake transform into an artist’s canvas: strokes of blush and lilac appear above us. For a fleeting moment, everything feels like a dream dipped in pastels.
Moonlight

The pairing of the moon and water feels deeply ancestral. Centuries of navigation, dreaming, longing and returning home.

This coastal summer has been a beautiful reminder to notice how the lakeside landscape shifts and changes, and always finds its way back to something familiar. Living with the lake feels like my truest form of home. My truest form of living.
What is leaving an imprint on you this season?
What summer routines have you been enjoying?
What do you want to remember when the season changes?
Wherever this season finds you, I hope there is something beautiful to notice.
